First Trailer for Goodbye Christopher Robin
Fox Searchlight have released the first trailer for the enchanting Goodbye Christopher Robin, the origin of A.A Milne’s classic creation Winnie The Pooh through the eyes of his creator.
Domhnall Gleeson stars as Milne, whose experiences in World War I shaped the creation of the storybook bear and his friends, which Milne based on his son Christopher Robin’s toys.
The preceding stories captured the imaginations of children and brought comfort to a stricken England. The film also doesn’t shy away from his post-war PTSD — during that time, they called it being ‘shellshocked’ — and portrays the halting impact trauma can have on the psychology those who have seen combat (about 30% of combat veterans have been diagnosed with PTSD).
The Simon Curtis-directed pic also touches on the toll the books’ success had on Milne and his family — son (Will Tillson) and wife Daphne (Margot Robbie) were also thrust into the spotlight. Kelly Macdonald also stars.
Goodbye Christopher Robin will be released on October 13.
