Game Of Thrones Production Delayed Due To 'Good Weather', Not Gloomy Enough Says Creators
One must suffer for art at times, but too much sunshine and clear blue skies is proving too great a challenge for Game of Thrones next season, and that means a delay.
Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said that the less-then-gloomy atmosphere is messing up their doom and gloom vibe for season 7 and it's likely to push back production until the druids get their mojo together and bring on the rain and clouds.
The 'Winter is here' finale with season 6 just won't feel right, they say, if there's too many birds chirping and enjoying the glorious weather. "We don't have an air date yet," they revealed during a UFC podcast.
"We're starting a bit later because at the end of this season, 'Winter is here' — and that means that sunny weather doesn't really serve our purposes anymore. So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, gray weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot."
Season 7 might not make the usual March / April window when it starts back up again for the next season, and no episode count has yet been determined. Apparently the final act for the TV show's adaptation is in the works for George R.R. Martin's literary work.
The season 6 finale aired just last month on June 26th and now the long sunny wait for winter (in spring?) has begun with Game of Thrones season 7 hopefully in early 2017.
