Syfy have renewed the popular adaptation The Expanse for a third season.
The show, based on the novels of James S.A. Corey, which is set two century's in the future in an inhabited solar system, sees a divided humanity coming face to face with a threat unlike anything they have seen, has grown since its first series – it’s complex tale has grabbed audiences, driving it to the top of the channels most watch shows, and SyFy has put more resources into the second season as evidenced in the suitably impressive VFX.
The focus of the show is spaceship crewman, James Holden, and a detective on Ceres, Joe Miller, who become intertwined in a system-wide conspiracy that brings everyone to the brink of war.
Chris McCumber, NBC Universal’s Cable Entertainment President had this to say of the series:
“The Expanse is a gorgeous, thrilling, emotional series that has quite simply raised the bar for science fiction on television. We, along with the fans, are looking forward to continuing the journey with our partners at Alcon Television Group and the series’ brilliant cast and crew.”
With the tense political situation between the three factions — Earth, Mars, and The Belt - set to become even more complicated as the situation grows more fraught, The Expanse season 2 airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on Syfy.
