Matthew McConaughey Forms The Free State Of Jones
The first image of Matthew McConaughey (interstellar) as Newton Knight in The Free State Of Jones has been released as the movie enters principal photography.
The movie is set during the civil war in the town of Jones County, Mississippi. The plot focuses on Knight, a farmer drafter into the Confederate army who finds himself at odds with their beliefs. Together with other local farmers Knight deserts the Confederacy and joins with freed slaves to free Jones County from Confederate control.
The Free State of Jones co-stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond The Lights), Keri Russell (The Americans), and Mahershala Ali (House Of Cards). The movie is written and directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) and is set to release March 16 2016 in the US.
