Despite only lasting a few seasons Steven Spielberg’s anthology series Amazing Stories won awards and garnered a cult following, so it’s no wonder that Apple TV are looking to revive the series as its first big scripted TV show.

According to Deadline, the reboot of Amazing Stories has been in the works for a while with Hannibal/American Gods writer/producer Bryan Fuller has been working on the project over at US network NBC. But it has since lingered there and is now the focus of interest for the tech giant. Apple is aiming to break into the streaming service sphere currently dominated by the likes of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.

Fuller is still involved in the series but his commitment to American Gods may curtail his time on the burgeoning show.

The original NBC show won five Emmys, including one for guest actor John Lithgow, and earned Spielberg a directing nom for the memorable World War II-themed episode The Missio
