Filming Wraps for X-Men: Apocalypse and Independence Day Resurgence

That's a wrap for two of Fox's big summer blockbusters as filming comes to a close for X-Men: Apocalypse and Independence Day Resurgence.

X-Men director Bryan Singer took to Instagram to announce that main unit filming had wrapped while second unit work is set to continue for a few weeks.

Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult lead the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse as Magneto, Professor X, Mystique, and Beast. The film will also see the return of Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Lucas Till as Havok and newcomers Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee. Oscar Isaac is starring as the film’s title antagonist.

Continuing a theme Independence Day Resurgence director Roland Emmerich also took to Instagram to announce filming had wrapped in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Starring Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward, Independence Day Resurgence is officially described as follows:

"We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction."

X-Men: Apocalypse is released 27th May 2016 while Independence Day Resurgence is set to hit cinemas 24th June 2016.
