A furry bionic oddball has been announced at this week's Gamescom 2017 event as THQ Nordic unveil Biomutant, a blend of post-apocalypse, kung-fu and RPG.
What's even weirder about the whole thing is the star of the piece is a 'biomutant' little critic we'll be exploring the world with, and his little robotic grasshopper sidekick. It's an open world post-apocalypse full of strange things indeed.
It's being created by the newly founded Experiment 101 team that's comprised of former Mad Max and Just Cause game developers from Avalanche Studios.
"Biomutant’s unique design lets players change their character’s abilities and appearance with powerful mutations, bionic prosthetics and weapons. Grow claws, sprout wings, or attach a robotic leg – each choice will impact the way your hero plays in real-time combat that blends melee martial arts and firearms."
It features real-time melee, shooting and mutant abilities with replayability by way of deep character progression and the exploration of "three systematically generated worlds, an underworld and a small solar system, by foot, mech, air-balloon, jetski and UFO." It also boasts a full MMO-style character customisation and mutation system. "... an interactive narrative featuring a contextual storyteller where the players creates their own story of survival in a vibrant colorful world."
Biomutant releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
