Star Wars: The Last Jedi - New Character Names and Details Revealed
Yesterday, thanks to Vanity Fair, we were treated to some outstanding character shots of the heroes and villains of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and now, today, we’re going to learn more about the characters we haven’t heard that much about before.
Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro’s characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi have officially been revealed, along with small bits about their roles in the film. While we were treated to some details about new character Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) at the Star Wars Celebration, other details surrounding the film have been shrouded in a cloak as mysterious as Supreme Leader Snoke’s sexy black number, so, eager to satiate fans on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, Rian Johnson has been telling Vanity Fair all about the two.
Johnson tells the publication that Del Toro plays a “shady character” named DJ (Del Toro has a rogue-ish look in his character photo). The filmmaker wouldn’t say who DJ’s allegiances were too, but added a bit more about his name, saying, “You’ll see—there’s a reason why we call him DJ.”
The name of Dern’s character is Vice Admiral Holdo, who is a prominent officer in the Resistance. He also shared a few more details about Rose, whose last name is Rose Tico, and her role in the film “involves a mission behind enemy lines with Boyega’s Finn,” Vanity Fair says. The publication noted that Rose is the sister of character named Paige, whom the reporter witnessed in a scene with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).
