Spider-Man Spin-Off Venom To Shoot This Fall
Fans of alien parasites rejoice as more news concerning one-time Spider-Man enemy turned headline star of his own spin-off movie, Venom emerge.
According to a post on the industry casting site MyEntertainmentWorld, the Venom movie will enter production in the fall. This is a year ahead of its October 2018 release date. Intriguingly, the site has the movie listed as "action/horror/sci-fi", implying it might have a slightly different tone to other superhero movies.

There goes our pitch for a Venom spin-off movie where he moves to Seattle to host a metal health call in radio show while living with his ex-cop father. Now we don’t know what to do with all these tossed salads and scrambled symbiants.
Currently, and unsurprisingly, there has been no talk of this movie connecting to this year's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sony holds the movie rights to Spider-Man and associated characters, and Marvel had to strike a deal with them to allow Spidey to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Homecoming and last year's Captain America: Civil War.
The deal to make a Venom movie predates this deal and was originally set to feature Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man but, after the disappointing The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony trapped those plans under a glass with a bit of card and threw them out the bathroom window.
The Venom film is set to be directed by Alex Kurtzman, who is helming this summer's reboot of The Mummy
