Get Your Hopes Up, The Dark Tower Movie Is Back On!

It seems today is a day for impossible dreams. First, Fallout 4 is officially announced by Bethesda, and now The Dark Tower movie is that much closer to existing.

To say that the concept is ambitious is an understatement. It has already caused two film giants, namely Warner Bros. Universal, to politely withdraw from the project and mutter about how they didn't want to do it anyway. Ron Howard was initially lined up to direct the first movie, which would be followed by sequels as well as a television series. No doubt in much the same fashion as the MCU and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. however, funding was pulled and Howard dropped out. The project was dead.

That is until Sony decided that they liked a challenge. They still plan on making a series of movies and the series to go with it. Howard has been replaced by Nickolaj Arcel as director, whose last movie was the period romance A Royal Affair, but who also wrote the script for the original Danish The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Movie.

The Dark Tower series is an interesting blend of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, and western from the shrieking caverns which serve as Stephen King's brain. The first novel, The Gunslinger, will presumably be the basis of the first movie and sees Roland Deschain of Gilead wander an alternate universe post-apocalyptic old west setting in search of the dark tower. I'm going to level with you, this series is not easy to describe. It is immense, and incredible but you just kinda have to take my word for it.

The Dark Tower movie won't be gracing our screens for a few years yet, but we'll keep you updated.
