It has become official as Warner Bros. Entertainment chairman Kevin Tsujihara spills the Bat-beans that Ben Affleck will star in a standalone Batman movie.

The brooding Bruce Wayne will keep his uncanny likeness to the Oscar winning actor in his next major film which will also be directed by Affleck. He also appears as Bats in Suicide Squad and the two parts of The Justice League, with his cowled debut of course in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice starring opposite Henry Cavill as Superman.

The announcement was made by chairman Kevin Tsujihara during CinemaCon in Las Vegas yesterday, after having credited directors Zack Snyder and Patty Jenkins for their contributions to the DC Universe.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been well-received at the box office with over $300 million taken in domestically during its first three weeks. It has also achieved the status of 'not-sucking' on average among critics and fans.

It's unknown whether we'll get the same darker Batman in the standalone project, which helped sell Affleck as Batman to fans, or if he tries to show him in another light.
