Sparc Announced

CCP Games has announced a sports game called Sparc which is based solely in virtual reality. Dust off that HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.

It's basically a kind of dodgeball where players go head-to-head in one-on-one matches as you try to strike your opponent by firing projectiles right at them, and the defending player can dodge, block or even deflect incoming attacks.

"After our early experiments with standing VR gameplay, we were excited by the idea of building an original sport designed for the current generation of VR hardware. We've designed Sparc so that players can express and improve their skill through their physical actions." said Morgan Godat, Executive Producer at CCP Atlanta. "Ultimately, we want players to think of Sparc as a virtual court in their living room where they can meet and compete with other players from around the world."

It's a skill-based VR sports game that fully utilises motion-control as well as full-body movement so sitting down isn't much of an option. Between matches you can also visit Courtside, a social spectating area that lets you watch matches as you queue for your next game.

Sparc releases on PC and PlayStation 4 in 2017.
