You can't keep the boy out of comics - fresh from having to drop out of Suicide Squad, Tom Hardy has found another comic book project, namely the dark- hearted stylish noir, 100 Bullets - which he'll produce with an eye to snagging a staring role.

The Vertigo series was created by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso ran an appropriate hundred issues between 1999 and 2009. 100 Bullets involves mysterious Agent Graves, who begins to arrive in people's lives with a briefcase containing a gun and 100 rounds of untraceable ammo, offering immunity to those seeking retribution for personal injustices.

The series spun a narrative that focused on individual cases and the bigger picture of Graves, his covert group The Minutemen and their wider agenda.

One previous attempt to adapt the spiraling narrative was made by the Showtime network, which seems more like a natural fit than the limitations of a big budget movie.

Here's hoping Hardy, writer Chris Borrelli and New Line can crack the case of 100 Bullets.
