Dwayne Johnson: Jumanji will be a Sequel, not a Reboot
When not using it to call out ‘candy ass’ co-stars (allegedly Fast & Furious 8’s Vin Diesel don’tcha know) Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson likes nothing more than to use social media to big up his latest projects, of which there are millions.
On the social media agenda today is Jumanji and while there’s no mention of any more candy asses, he did let slip via Instagram that his reworking of the 90’s children’s cult classic, which featured a winning performance from the late Robin Williams, would not be a remake but a ‘continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story’.
So, collective sigh of relief, no one will be recast in Williams role from the 1996 film which told the tale of a magical board game which came to life, bring the horrors of the jungle to the streets of New Hampshire.
Johnson is being joined in the film by Kevin Hart and Jack Black; The Rock joked at “how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we're together."
Jake Kasden is directing the new film, which is currently working towards a July 28th 2017 release date.
