Avatar 2 – the forever delayed follow up and world-expanding sequel to a whole host of new Avatar movies from James Cameron – has got the thumbs up from star Sigourney Weaver who has said the scripts are ‘amazing’.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Weaver also went on to confirm when the much-anticipated sequel will begin filming.

“We're starting training, and we're starting--hmm, I probably can't say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall,” she said.

It’s been a long wait for Avatar fans, the follow up to the 2009 movie was due for release Christmas 2018 but that rumour was shot down by director James Cameron, who said the movie won’t be released until 2019 at the soonest.

As for those scripts – Cameron wants to make parts Two, Three, Four, and Five simultaneously, hence the delay – Weaver said:

“I'm telling you, these scripts are so amazing, I'm not worried about [disappointing fans] at all," she said. "Am I worried about how we're going to bring them to life? Yes, because they’re so ambitious. They're so worth it. They're well worth waiting for. I'm not worried about that at all. We're trying to get it done as quickly as possible."

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are also returning for the sequel, though other casting and story details are unknown.
