The Truth Is Still Out There - The X-Files Returns!
It may have been thirteen years since it last graced our television screens, and seven since it's last trip to theatres, but at last The X-Files is coming back!
To be clear, this isn't another reboot or re-imagining of a big property, this is The X-Files that we know and love. Although Fox have only given it a limited series order of six episodes, it will be nice to see FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully back and wanting to believe, or being lovably sceptical, as they investigate a cavalcade of bizarre occurrences which often lack earthly explanation.
It has been confirmed that David Duchovny (Californication) and Gillian Anderson (Hannibal) will be returning as the archetypal odd couple of paranormal investigations. What's more Chris Carter (The After) will be returning as the show runner for The X-Files, a role he inhabited during the original run of the show.
Now, there are those suggesting that this limited series is merely a ploy on Fox's part to create more interest in the original series of The X-Files on VOD platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix which aren't entirely unfounded. However, is that an issue for anybody? If Fox's desire for more lucrative licencing deals leads them to make more of a great show I'm all for it, I don't know about you.
The X-Files hasn't been given an air date yet, however the rumour mill suggests it will air before the year is out.
