The spiritual successor to Rare's 1990's classic Banjo-Kazooie will be delayed until early next year according to developer Playtonic. In a statement, it was revealed that Yooka-Laylee will be landing on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U during the first quarter of 2017.

In terms of development, Playtonic will be using the extra few months to add some polish to the game. Still, the developer stated that they felt "confident [they] could ship the game in October as originally planned".

Playtonic MD Gavin Price continued, “We’re sure some will be disappointed by the prospect of a few extra months’ wait, however the Playtonic team is confident that we’ve made the right decision for the game and that you’ll be pleased with the results when the game arrives early next year."

In related news, writer Andy Robinson spoke on the importance of porting the game to Wii U stating "I also think it feels right playing it on a Nintendo system to some people." Playtonic will be handling the development of the PC and Wii U versions of the game internally while external group Team17 will be handling the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions.
