There's more stealth assassinations from Styx as Focus Home Interactive announce a sequel from developers Cyanide called Styx: Shards of Darkness. It's an all bigger affair with "bigger budget, bigger ideas, and a new engine".

They'll be using Epic games' Unreal Engine 4 for all that extra goblin, elf and dwarf they have planned for Shards of Darkness. The first image of the game has been released and it shows Styx dealing with a dark elf.

"Following the fall of Akenash tower, an extraordinary matter has forced Styx out of hiding to infiltrate Körangar, the city of the Dark Elves. Supposedly impregnable, a diplomatic summit offers Styx a chance at slipping in unnoticed, as he learns that the event is nothing but a mere façade... Moreover, the Elves have joined forces with the Dwarves, and the only thing both races have in common is a mutual hatred of the Goblins..."

Cyanide promised plenty of new mechanics to keep things interesting when Styx returns next year on PC and console. There'll be a lot more mobility getting around the environment with corner grappling, rope climbing and zip-lining with his stabby knife.

Styx: Shards of Darkness releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2016.
