The need for two different engines in the Tuscan’s replacement was due to the UK market’s three-litre Ford V6 not meeting US emissions standards. So cars heading that way were fitted with the already-approved TR6 engine, with carburettors and smog gear, and quite a few bhp less than the fuel-injected versions the UK was used to. Though most of those went to America, a few did find British homes, but 3000Ms are what you will mostly find. Thanks to the TR6’s demise, 2500M production ended in 1977. The 3000M soldiered on for another two years.
