In North Dakota, the oil fields bring in those from around the country who are down on their luck. These men are promised good paying jobs, but they are not promised a place to live. In Williston, there are no apartments or cheap housing for the men. They find that there is no place for them to stay at night when they aren't working. Pastor Jay lets them stay in his church overnight. He pleads with his congregation to open their homes to these men. He doesn't find much help within the community of his followers and even goes against the city council in an attempt to find these men homes.
