That sounds potentially disappointing, but with light weight and better handling than the 911, this is a fine sports car in its own right. It briefly reappeared in 1975 as the 912E, fitted with a two-litre VW engine. Sold only in the US, this filled gap between the outgoing 914-4 and Porsche’s new 924. Prices are similar for either version.
