The first post-war Morgan was similar to its pre-war cousin in styling, and almost identical underneath. The chassis was tubular, featuring Z-section side members, while the Morgan sliding pillar suspension and coil springs were just as before. For the first 4/4, a special overhead cam Standard engine was used, mated to a Moss gearbox. It was a recipe that worked, and would continue to do so for a very long time indeed. Some of the features, such as cable brakes, remained in place, but over time, these would be replaced by contemporary set-ups.
