The Mantula was a welcome return to basics for the reborn Marcos company of the 1980s. Powered by the venerable Rover V8 engine, and featuring a body that was a subtle development of the Dennis Adams-styled body, but with more effective aerodynamics, the Mantula continued offered big-engined thrills for a modest outlay. In 1986, a Spyder version was introduced for the first time, and an updated independent suspension set-up helped keep all of that power on the road. More modest Cortina-powered versions were also available.
