Haru Kobayashi was just a boy when earth started receiving strange signals from outer space. Leading scientists managed to decode them and create various devices that were so technologically advanced, they would have been considered borderline magic just some years earlier. The crown jewel of all these devices was a portal which only the chosen nation was allowed to build in the earth’s orbit. Years later, Haru has been chosen as the leading astronaut to oversee the activation of this portal which would open a new chapter for potential interstellar travel. Little did he know that these signals have been sent to various corners of deep space by a hostile alien race, called the locust. After Haru activated the portal, locust armies traveled right through, defeating earth’s defenses almost immediately. By cutting all communications, they left Haru stranded in the earth’s orbit for almost 17 years.
