Blessed with the V8 from the recently-launched 308 GT4, this was Ferrari’s first ever glassfibre car, though that bold move fizzled out after less than two years and 712 examples. Quite simply it was cheaper and quicker to build in steel, and demand for the 308 was high. The steel cars were also heavier, and when you add that lot together, it makes the original GRP cars much more collectible and expensive than their successors. You have less rust issues to worry about as well, though only with regard to the outer panels.
