After his mother's death and a disagreement with his father, a young New York illustrator moves to Los Angeles and begins his "adulthood" learning the ins and outs of how to deal with everything from trying to succeed in his career to falling in love. In the meantime, his father attempts to sell their home in New York and move on with his own life as he starts over with a new apartment and possible love. Dean and his father move further apart in their relationship until advice and lessons from friends and strangers navigate them back to one another.
