Bitter CDClassic Car
The Bitter CD started life as a styling study by Opel, shown at the Frankfurt motor show in 1969 – and it was so well received that the company considered putting the Diplomat-engined coupé into production. However, it was down to former racing driver Erich Bitter to turn it into production reality in 1973 – just in time for the oil crisis. Despite its unpromising Opel platform and Chevrolet V8, the CD is a great car to drive, and an excellent long distance tourer. The Baur built bodies are prone to rusting, but many of the 395 cars built survive in the hands of enthusiastic owners.
