Bringing the Alpine family firmly into the 1970s, the A310 was developed from the rear engined A110 GT4, but civilised to such an extent that it could be taken seriously as a day-to-day road car. The wedge-shaped styling was certainly striking, but keeping with tradition the glassfibre body was light and aerodynamic. Powered by the Renault 17TS high output 1605cc engine it could easily top 125mph. Although never officially imported into the UK many examples have crossed the Channel but they are expensive compared with rivals.
