Eric Carter, an African American military hero in his 20s, returns to the US after his so-far-unspecified deployment and finds that trouble has followed him home. The female lead is a veteran former head of the show's fictional Counter Terrorist Unit. In asking the CTU to help solve his own problem, he in turn aids them in stopping a large-scale terrorist assault on the US.
