Firaxis Games' XCOM 2 won't be out until this Friday, but the reviews are pouring in now!

In XCOM 2, 20 years has passed since the events in the first game when world leaders unconditionally surrendered to alien forces and XCOM, the world's last line of defense, was left destroyed and scattered. Now the aliens hold dominion over the Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while hiding a sinister intent below and eliminating all who don't fall in like with their new order.

XCOM 2 currently has 32 critical reviews on its Metacritic page, along with an impressive Metascore of 91 out of 100. The lowest score it has received is a 75 out of 100 from EGM, while the highest is a perfect 100 out of 100 from The Daily Dot.

Here's what critics are saying about the game:

The Daily Dot - 100 out of 100
"Firaxis has done a wonderful job of taking the life-and-death, intense pressure of the tactical infantry game, and mapping it onto the strategic game."

PC Gamer - 94 out of 100
"Exceptionally tough, rewarding strategy and a masterful reworking of the XCOM formula. We’ll play this forever."

GameTrailers - 93 out of 100
"The missions, characters, mechanics and flow have all been dramatically improved...It's one of those rare games that's so gripping, you want everyone to play it. Not just those who are already fond of the genre."

IGN - 93 out of 100
"It comes together brilliantly. Thanks to a new spin on the same great tactical combat, plus unpredictable maps and randomized objectives and loot, XCOM 2 is an amazing game I’ll easily put hundreds of hours into."

Power Unlimited - 90 out of 100
"Because a few fine features from XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within didn’t make the cut, and other adjustments make the gameplay different, but not necessarily better, XCOM 2 isn’t the best sequel ever. Nonetheless it offers ridiculously addictive and extremely exciting turn-based tactics, which is unequaled even though the genre is becoming more and more popular lately. Accept no substitutes."

GameSpot - 90 out of 100
"It's mathematical, emotional, and thoughtful all at once. It's exhilarating, even in the face of failure. It's compelling, even though we often lose. Victory is the goal, but that's just an afterthought here--it's the complex journey that counts."

GameStar - 88 out of 100
"It's just a great game in so many areas: Teams design, production, research, base building, soldiers equipment - everything engages wonderfully with each other, is more varied and better than the already great first part."

EGM - 75 out of 100
"XCOM 2 is a generally solid experience, but it is definitely one of those titles that may not be for everyone due to its punishing game style and occasional unpredictably of success."

XCOM 2 will be available February 5th, exclusively on PC. Plan on picking it up? Let us know below!
