HBO Now Streaming Service Launches April Alongside Game Of Thrones

A source at HBO has come out and announced that they're finally cutting the cord and allowing customers to join a standalone streaming service, rather than needing to buy a TV package.

The service is being priced at $15 per month, which is about what you have to pay for the HBO channel with your cable package. This way, however, you don't need to pay for the cable package as well. HBO Now is expected to appeal to a wider audience than their current cable channel does, as many younger people are put off at the prospect of buying cable just to get HBO.

HBO also announced that they are in negotiations to make Apple TV a launch partner of the service, and while the service is expected to launch on other platforms Apple have apparently been quite dedicated in getting the service on Apple TV.

A definitive release date for HBO Now has yet to be announced, but a source at HBO mentioned a release around the time of Game of Thrones season 5, pointing to on or before April 12.

Now, at the moment we have to take this news with a pinch of salt, as HBO haven't officially announced any details on their streaming service yet, however, it looks like it's only a matter of time until it's confirmed. Is the idea of a HBO streaming service tempting to you?
