Warner Bros. Abandons Multi-GPU Support Plans For Batman: Arkham Knight

PC gamers who have been more than patient with the Batman: Arkham Knight fiasco have once again been dealt a blow as Warner Bros. have very quietly admitted they won't be working to support multi-GPU setups after all.

Those with one or more GPUs working together had been promised the development team was looking into patching specific support. Most powerful gamer rigs in fact utilise multi-GPU hardware but Batman: Arkham Knight has been less than ideal with what is now a common practice. This is a final nail in the bat-shaped coffin for Arkham Knight.

The re-launch of the PC version has been heavily criticised for doing very little in terms of gains for PC gamers, so much so that Warner Bros. extended a no-quibble refund until the end of the year.

"...the result was that even the best case estimates for performance improvements turned out to be relatively small given the high risk of creating new issues for all players," a Warner rep was found to have announced on Steam forums. The studios had stated they were working with Nvidia and AMD to develop a solution.

“As a result we’ve had to make the difficult decision to stop work on further multi-GPU support. We are disappointed that this was not practical and apologize to those who have been waiting for this feature.”

That 'feature' was an essential lifeline for a significant portion of the community, but now they'll have to struggle with Arkham Knight's sub-par optimisations - something multi-GPUs can mitigate. This is yet another black eye for both Warner Bros. and Rocksteady following their disastrous launch of PC Batman: Arkham Knight.
