Rumour: Mario And Skyrim Port At Nintendo Switch Launch

Nintendo are keeping their trap shut about further Nintendo Switch hardware or game-related announcements until 2017, but the leaks are flowing.

The Mario game that is shown off during the recent Switch teaser reveal from Nintendo is going to be a launch title for the new portable console, claim notable sources. Already we've heard that the new Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won't make a March release, but probably land in the summer.

This new Mario title is set to have a 3D open world hub that connects to different worlds and has multiple objectives to achieve in each, similar to Mario 64. However the game itself is not played in a 3D environment but a more linear approach is taken with set paths and apparently to be completed once.

The multiplayer side of the Mario title is co-op with a tether-like link between players to prevent them from spreading out too far. Player two can help achieve objectives but can't stop player one's progress.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will also be coming at launch for Nintendo Switch, according to the same source. It will match the recent remastered version that has been released by Bethesda with mod support expected post-launch, and mods will only be able to use existing game assets.

Also mentioned was a new version of Splatoon for the Switch with a special 1 vs 1 mode so two players can play together and battle it out over a map. Nintendo are optimistic the quick and easy action of this Splatoon version will compliment the handheld multiplayer.

Nintendo Switch releases worldwide in March 2017.
