First Independence Day Resurgence Trailer Promises a Fight for Our Existence

The first Independence Day Resurgence trailer has landed.

Jeff Goldblum shared the 12-second clip on, of course, Independence Day, via his newly set-up Facebook page.

The video, which features a flickering landscape image, containing the ambiguous message: “We’re fighting for our right to live. To exist.”

Goldblum also shared this adorable behind the scenes image where he’s photobombed by his co-star Liam Hemsworth, along with the caption: “So there I was thinking about how I would save mankind when this guy photobombs me. Oh, why hello Facebook, nice to finally meet you. #IDR."

Goldblum is reuniting with co-stars Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A Fox and Brent Spiner two decades after shooting Independence Day.

Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Jessie Usher are among the newcomers taking major roles, while Sela Ward will play the US president.

The original's star Will Smith is confirmed not to be returning for Independence Day: Resurgence, following years of speculation about his involvement.

Independence Day: Resurgence hits cinemas on June 24, 2016 in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the original film.
