Gears Of War 4 Hands On Beta Footage Surfaces, Early Beta Access Begins April 18th

Spanish-speaking YouTube channel ResetMX has some of the very first hands on beta footage of Gears of War 4 in action. The Coalition is developing the follow-up for Microsoft.

What's covered in the raw beta action? Team Deathmatch and Dodgeball on the Harbor map between the COG and the Swarm. Early Access for the multiplayer beta starts next week on April 18th and then the floodgates explode open for all come April 25th. You get the earlier access if you played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before April 11th.

First up there's an official 10 second clip from the studio showing one of the new lead characters and the Dropshot gun, and naturally they choose to show it in the best light imaginable; executing a pesky Swarm grunt.

The actual beta footage captured by ResetMX isn't too bad quality wise (720p) so you don't need to endure a mess of pixels colliding with the odd spray of red. The entire length of the hands on video is over 14 minutes with the Dodgeball mode being shown off for the better part of it.

The multiplayer portion of the game is actually developed by Splash Damage, not The Coalition, and is said to run at 1080p with 60 frames per second, as opposed to the campaign at 1080p and 30 frames. Splash already worked on the series with  Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
