Everything We Know About The Infinite Warfare Beta Test
Are you ready to dive into the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta? It starts next Friday at 5pm GMT on PlayStation 4 and here's what you can expect.
Rigs
You'll be able to check out three of the six available Rigs; combat suits equipped with Payloads (weapons earned during the match) and Traits (passive abilities).
Combat Rig No. 1 is the assault-based Warfighter which has access to the following Payloads: a Claw spread-shot weapon, a double-points buff called Combat Focus, and Overdrive for added speed.Trait-wise, the Warfighter can Ping Kills and scavenge from downed enemies, as well as having persistent scorestreaks which don't reset on death, but cost more as a result.
Next up, the defence-centric Merc which, payload-wise, uses the Steel Dragon heavy-beam cannon, a Bull Charge with a riot-shield, and body armour which reacts to enemy fire. In terms of Traits, the Merc can regenerate health, pull off a ground-pound, and won't be slowed down by heavy weapons.
Finally, there's the close-combat droid, SYNAPTIC A C6 CLASS, kitted out with dual under-arm, suppressed machine guns, the ability to rewind your position and replenish health, as well as a melee-focused four-legged mode. This bot's Traits include a boost of speed with each kill, a quick-recharging jump pack, and a multi-directional horizontal dash.
Maps
The beta will consist of three maps to test drive these Rigs; FRONTIER offers fast-paced, two lane gameplay on a circular space-station orbiting Neptune. FROST is a linear, three-lane research facility located on Jupiter's moon Europa. Finally, THROWBACK is a three-lane, 1950's-esque locale on a rotating, torus-shaped space station.
Mission Teams
A new meta-game for multiplayer, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare introduces Mission Teams which allows you to enlist, earn a team rank while completing missions, and earn rewards like team-specific prototype weapons, emblems, and unique Rig cosmetics.
The beta offers enlistment to two of the four Mission Teams; JTF Wolverines who are "First in the Fight" and the Orion Initiative whom live by "Vigilance to Victory".
Game Modes
While you'll have the usual rotation of fan-favourite modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed, the beta will also introduce a new mode: Defender. This match is described as a high-stakes game of 'keep away' where your team has to nab a drone and keep it out of the enemy's mitts.
