New Alien: Covenant Image Lands Online

In space, no one can hear you wrap production on the latest instalment in the Alien franchise.

Ridley Scott has been busy working on Alien: Covenant and to celebrate the end of production, a new image has been revealed online. The film sees the Covenant and its crew head off to explore an allegedly uncharted paradise only for it turn into an alien-filled nightmare that may or may not say something about the origins of the human race.

While they’re busy trying not to die, they encounter David, as played by Michael Fassbender – reprising his role from Prometheus – who claims to be the sole survivor of that ill-fated mission.

What’s interesting is a month before filming wrapped Noomi Rapace returned to set to make a mockery of David’s claims. What isn’t clear is whether or not she’ll be appearing in a flashback scene or interacting with the possibly doomed crew of the Covenant.

Speaking of origins, the image of star Katherine Waterston, who plays Daniels, bears a striking resemblance to Ripley – either the uniforms haven’t change that much in a decade or so, or Ridley Scott is trying to tell us something as proceedings head ever closer to the events of 1979’s Alien.

The film also stars Demián Bichir, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride.

Alien: Covenant is out on August 4 next year.
