Tron Fans Rally Behind Franchise with Tron 3 11,000+ Signature Petition
The Grid may have been shut down but there’s still power following through fans who will not lie down and let Disney shutdown Tron 3 without a fight.
Fan Lucas Lowman has started a petition to get Disney to reverse their decision and bring Flynn back to life. A full statement on his Change.org page reads: “Tron: Legacy grossed over 400 million dollars and helped more fully realize the world created in the original Tron. It’s a shame that Disney has elected not to move forward with a third Tron film as the universe is ripe to be explored. Sign this petition so that we may show Disney that The Grid is too great to never be shown again and to prove that Flynn lives.”
Lowman’s target is 15,000 signatures and, at time of posting, the total stands at over 11,000. Fans have also taken to Twitter show their support under the #flynnlives.
While Disney hasn’t offered a concrete reason for pulling the plug on Tron 3 (rumours have it down to numerous possibilities including cold feet after the disappointing box office returns of Tomorrowland) but one source quoted by /Film said: “Things in the queue got ahead of it and we have such a big slate out in front of it, we started to think, ‘Where does it go?’ And it’s a pretty big investment to make if you are not even sure when you are going to release it.”
While it’s a great gauge of people’s desire to see another Tron film, a petition might not be enough but if you want to give them your support head over to Change.org.
