It's not even grinding Japan's economy to a halt with 'sick days' yet but Final Fantasy XV has already got an MMO in the works, announces Square Enix.

They've team up with  Game of War - Fire Age developer Machine Zone for an MMO set specifically in the Final Fantasy XV universe that will be coming to mobile platforms using iOS and Android. It will leverage the characters, the story and even the soundtrack of the JRPG.

"It is an honor to work on a franchise I have loved since I was a kid. Final Fantasy is an iconic franchise in gaming," said Machine Zone Founder and CEO Gabe Leydon. "Bringing Final Fantasy XV to the mobile MMO gaming world is a significant opportunity for our players and we are proud to partner with Square Enix."

There's no release schedule yet but it's for mobile so shouldn't have too long before it launches to the free-to-play market. It's unclear what the final name for this Final Fantasy XV MMO is either but expect it out some time in 2017.
