Blade Runner 2 to film This July
It’s finally happening.
Blade Runner 2 will shoot this July with Sony Pictures has acquired the distribution rights for everywhere but the US and Canada. Warner Bros will release the picture in North America.
It’s been roughly two years since Ridley Scott first spoke of producing a follow-up to the sci-fi classic. Unfortunately, he won’t return to helm the sequel – although he’ll still serve as Executive Producer and had a hand in the script which was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green – stepping into his sizable shoes will be Sicario director Denis Villeneuve.
Ryan Gosling is set to star alongside Harrison Ford who returns as Deckard.
Given the amount of effects work this will need we’d be looking at a late 2017 release which will put the film up against Star Wars: Episode VIII, so it may well be pushed back till 2018.
