He’s already spun his way into one franchise, Tom Holland is about to join another in Doug Liman’s YA adaptation, Chaos Walking – alongside a familiar face from another major franchise, Daisy Ridley.

A film based on writer Patrick Ness’ dystopian novels has been in the works for a while and has seen the likes Charlie Kaufman and Money Monster's Jamie Linden take a bash at writing various drafts of the script.

In Ness’ trilogy - The Knife Of Never Letting Go, The Ask And The Answer and Monsters Of Men – humankind is colonising a distant planet after Earth falls to ruin.  However, a virus known as The Noise, which turns thoughts into speech, throws the burgeoning society into the titular chaos. A corrupt autocrat takes the chance to seize control of the human settlements to launch a strike on the native alien race, the Spackles, blaming them for the infection that’s apparently killing human women.

If Holland does sign on, he’ll play Todd Hewitt, the only boy in a town solely comprised of men, who rebels to stop the oncoming destruction. Going on the run with his dog, he teams up with a mysterious girl (Ridley), who is the source of a precious patch of silence.

Of course, Holland does have the small matter of Spider-Man: Homecoming first which will swing into cinemas on the 7th July next year.
