Marvel are once again reseting the Spider-Man franchise and weighing in on the subsequent changes is the man who first brought the superhero to the big screen, Evil Dead director Sam Raimi.

In an interview with MTV, Raimi said: "I saw [both Marc Webb movies], they’re great. And I’m really glad that Marvel’s taking it to high school. I think that’s gonna be refreshing, and just like my favourite of the Spider-Man comic-books.

"I have a lot of faith that they really know their stuff," says Raimi of the Marvel Studios team. "The difficulty of going through high school is so unique to a superhero. It’s unique and that’s what Spider-Man’s all about, so that they’re gonna explore that head on is very exciting."

It's not surprising that Raimi is keen to see Spider-Man back in school - he's very much an old school Spider-Man fan (which is why Venom felt like someone else's idea that he didn't care for in Spider-Man 3). Although we'll have to agree to disagree on Marc Webb's movies.

Jon Watts is officially in place to direct the character's new adventure, with young actor Tom Holland the man next in line to don the famous suit. The film will open in the US on 28 July 2017, with a UK date to be confirmed.
