M. Night Shyamalan Unveils Glass, An Unbreakable/Spilt Sequel
Teasing that he had some unbelievable news to share on Twitter later today, M. Night Shyamalan certainly wasn’t lying. The Split director announced that his next film will not only be a sequel to the $275M worldwide hit staring James McAvoy and Anya Taylor Joy, but also a sequel to 2000’s Unbreakable, which stared Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.
Titled Glass, the sequel will in the director’s words, be a “crazy comic book thriller” saying that it was always his dream to have both films collide in this third film.
Unbreakable was a superhero thriller starring Bruce Willis as David Dunn, the sole survivor of a terrible train wreck who slowly realises that he cannot be harmed. This new-found invulnerability attracts the attention of Samuel L. Jackson’s mysterious and manipulative comic book shop owner Elijah Price — whose rare disease renders his bones as fragile as glass.
Split, which stars McAvoy as a kidnapper with multiple personalities, marked the second collaboration for Shyamalan and horrormeister Blumhouse after 2015’s The Visit. A connection between the two was made implicit at the end of Split.
Glass will be released in cinemas on January 18th 2019.
