It has been revealed by Konami that a secret event can now be trigger in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain through a complicated set of conditions, some of which players had already begun working towards after data mining took place.

This new hidden event revolves around the disarmament of nuclear weaponry, a long-running theme in the series. Among other steps, players must dismantle all nuclear weapons corresponding to your platform and region, which sounds like it could take forever to happen.

Here's what you've got to do:

  • You must have completed Mission 31.
  • You must not own or be currently developing a nuclear weapon. If you have any nukes in stock, you must dismantle them.
  • Certain conditions related to nuclear proliferation must be met on the regional server for your corresponding gaming platform (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC(Steam)).
  • All nuclear weapons on the regional server corresponding to your console or platform must have been dismantled. In other words, the amount of nukes on your platform's server must be equal to 0.

The event will automatically trigger once the player returns to their Mother Base after completing a main mission. The nuclear stock of PlayStation players has dropped significantly since November 1st, now standing at 349. PC players have cut their stock in half too, but still holds more than 15,000 nuclear weapons.
