Blizzard Entertainment has dusted off 1998 classic real-time strategy StarCraft and is re-releasing it with a remastered edition, supporting 4K UHD no less.

Lots of things are being modernised to bring the original StarCraft up-to-code such as featuring integration with Battle.net, re-recorded audio from the official soundtrack to effects and dialogue. There's also LAN support for going old school with buddies or at LAN parties and a bunch of other quality of life improvements.

All the art assets have been redrawn to support the much higher resolutions of today's monitors while the gameplay itself remains pure to the original. Remastered includes the main game as well as the Brood War expansion.

"We’ve remastered our units, buildings, and environments, improved game audio, and broadened our supported resolutions. Illustrated interludes bring the struggles and victories of heroes like Artanis, Fenix, Tassadar, Raynor and Kerrigan to life like never before. Most importantly, the strategy gameplay that StarCraft perfected years ago remains unchanged."

StarCraft Remastered releases on PC and Mac in summer 2017.
