Brand New Trailer for Boston Marathon Bombing Drama Patriots Day
Drawing once again from real-life events, director Peter Berg and actor Mark Wahlberg have reunited to tell the story of the Boston Marathon bombing in the drama Patriots Day.
It’s perhaps their trickiest attempt to wrest a story from the headlines – and judging by the trailer the tone isn’t quite there: How much do you fictionalise? How do you balance the actual heroism with the temptation to add sentimentality to what is a difficult subject matter without trivialising that heroism?
It's a difficult task indeed.
The film chronicles the events surrounding the bombing that happened at the finish line of the Boston race on April 15, 2013. Investigators eventually narrowed down suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and a huge manhunt followed, with Tamerlan killed in a firefight with officers and Dzhokhar found guilty of all his charges and sentenced to death. The likes of J.K. Simmons, John Goodman, Michelle Monaghan and Kevin Bacon are all in the cast.
Patriots Day is released January, 13th in the US and February, 24th in the UK.
