You may be aware of the success that is AMC's The Walking Dead, based on the comic written by Robert Kirkman. What you man not be aware of is that Kirkman also writes another series Called Outcast, which is receiving its own tv adaptation.

Outcast follows the story of Kyle Barnes, a man who has been host to demonic possession his entire life. At long last, he decides it's about time to find out why. For the adaptation, Barnes will be played by Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl).

The comic was actually picked up for tv a mere week after the first issue hit the stand. This created some problems, as Showrunner Chris Black pointed out. “We didn’t have 200 issues of The Walking Dead, so we were waiting on Robert a lot of times. We would sit in the writer’s room telling him we have this idea or that and he would say, ‘Well, the next issue is out on Friday.’ In adapting a comic to a television show it needs to become its own thing. There are simply not enough ideas in one comic book to fill 60 minutes of a premium cable show and you end up burning through the story pretty fast. Beyond that, on a creative level, you want it to take on a life of it’s own. You don’t want to just transcribe it. It needs to be transformed from a comic book into a TV show because they are different mediums.” Black explained during a panel at Comic-Con.

Outcast has completed it's pilot episode and is due to begin airing worldwide sometime in 2016, however the other 9 episodes that will make up the first season aren't going to be shot until next month, so expect the series at the tail end of 2016. Check out the trailer below:
