IO Interactive's episodic return to the Hitman series with a younger and maybe even balder Agent 47 is nearly ready to launch its beta. First it will come to PlayStation 4 this Friday, while PC assassins will need to wait a week longer.

The beta includes two different missions located in a secret facility. These appear to be tutorial levels with Agent 47 completing his training. When the new Hitman does launch properly it will start with a sandbox location in Paris, before eventually expanding with more as 'episodes' release down the line with more missions.

"The HITMAN Prologue. That’s the very beginning of the game, set at a top secret recruitment and training facility. The Prologue revolves around how Agent 47 joined the ICA and shows the first time that 47 meets his long-time handler, Diana Burnwood," reads the FAQ.

"The Prologue contains an introduction to the gameplay features and mechanics in HITMAN, and two free-form training hits. You’ll be able to replay each hit as many times as you wish throughout the beta period to complete the challenges and the multiple ways to take down your target – as you would expect."

To qualify for the beta you need to have pre-ordered the game. The beta begins on PlayStation and runs from 08.00 PST, February 12th until February 15th at 08.00 PST. The PC beta is later from 11:00 CET, February 19th and ends February 22nd at 11:00 CET.

Hitman releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 March 11th, 2016. Beta progress does not carry over.
