The Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 Switch Release Dates
Good news if you’re a fan of The Incredibles…not so great news if you’re a fan of Toy Story…
The Incredibles 2 will hit theatres a year before it was originally slated, while Toy Story 4 will move from 201 8 to 2019, Pixar said Wednesday.
Switching release dates, The Incredibles 2 will now debut on June 15, 2018 — the same day that Toy Story 4 was originally slated to make its bow in theatres. Toy Story 4 will then move to June 21, 2019, filling a slot that The Incredibles follow-up was supposed to occupy.
While neither are likely to struggle at the box office, both films will have their release dates entirely to themselves; The Incredibles 2 will premiere between the release of Transformers 6 and a sequel to Jurassic World. Toy Story 2 slot in between an untitled DC Comics film and the next instalment of the Transformers saga.
Brad Bird will return to the director’s chair for The Incredibles 2 which will be looking to build upon the $633 million worldwide that the original film took – not to mention an Oscar for best animated feature.
Toy Story 4 will reunite original stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, while Toy Story 3 remains Pixar’s highest-grossing film, having made $1.1 billion globally.
