Demon Negotiation & Part-Time Work Returns in Persona 5

If you're a fan of the mainline Shin Megami Tensei games, you'll be happy to hear that demon negotiation will returning in Atlus's long-awaited Persona 5, according to details revealed at E3 yesterday.

The game wasn't playable on the show floor but a 12 minute demo was shown off at the company's booth, available online courtesy of GameSpot. The demo, entitled 'Day to Night', takes place during the usual starting month of April where our protagonist has just 10 days before he's expelled from school.

How you spend your free-time is important for the immersive series so part-time jobs will return with examples such as working at a konbini and a flower shop. You'll be able to go see movies, study at a restaurant, text your friends, or take on a challenge to increase one of your five character traits: guts, charm, knowledge, kindness, and proficiency.

It appears you'll be able to access Kamoshida Palace - which appears to be the Midnight Channel or Tartarus equivalent for Persona 5 - by using your phone. Once you're in, you'll be able to visit one of the two new Velvet Room assistants, Caroline or Justine.

Traversing the Palace will be somewhat different this time around; you'll need to hide and surprise the enemies, utilising stealth to your advantage. As mentioned previously, you'll be able to negotiate with the Shadows after triggering a Hold Up! sequence.

Negotiation looks as though it'll be replacing the old way of collecting Persona cards post-battle like you'd find in the Shin Megami Tensei games, adding a level of strategy to the gathering.

Unfortunately, we've still not heard any news from the folks at Atlus regarding a European release date but we'll be sure to keep you posted.
